setting up RAMdisks at boot time (or afterwards)

Hello all,

I´m going to use a ramdisk for some files. Normally the kernel sets up 16 ramdisks. I want to change this but I got some questions :

- How do I change the size of them?
- Is it possible to change the number of 16 to 1 or 2 or any number <16 ?
- Is it possible to make ramdisks with a different size each?
- When does the ramdisk reserves the memory : when creating it or when
mounting it or at I/O as needed?

Thanx all of you

Ronald

Size is a bootprompt or bootloader kernel line argument, number is only kernel compile time IIRC, different sizes is possible: it's a mount arg and fixed/dynamic alloc is a mount arg too. More at ye aulde http://www.vanemery.com/Linux/Ramdisk/ramdisk.html.
