Setting up a domain network

Problem
I want to set up a domain-based, but I've been unable to find a whole lot of information on the subject (I've found a lot of stuff on REGISTERING a domain, but not setting up a domain-based network). I need to know what services I'm going to have to run (NIS, DNS, etc.)

Requirements
The most important thing to me is a good, configurable firewall, followed shortly by a centralized login authentication system (so if I change a user's password, it changes the password for all the computers). I also want to log when a user logs on and off. I would also like to have a Document Control System (dBase), which can backup and manage revisions of documents and, if possible, allow downloading of documents from remote location over the internet. A CVS/RCS system would be nice for my software development projects (predominately for fun and education). Finally, I would like to be able to control when certain users can access the internet, but I would like all users to be able to use the benefits of the network (such as using the printers or Document Control System). Ideally, I would like to be able to access the network via the internet under the inflectus.com subheader (ie, I want to access the document control system housed on bolero, I could type in http://bolero.inflectus.com/ to access it), but this is not mandatory, just a fun feature.

Limitations
I have a $750 budget for any additional equipment / software purchasing. Furthermore, while I have maintained the same IP address for the past 2 months, I am not guaranteed to retain the same IP address. Luckily, at this point, I have everything backed up (twice, actually) onto DVD's and things are slow right now, so I can afford to have production computers down for a few days.

Current Resources
bolero (server-to-be)
Processor: 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium4
Memory: 1GB RAM
Storage: 2x200GB Western Digital HDDs
OS: RHEL4
Note: Has 2 NICs

nocturne (production computer)
Processor: AMD Athlon64 3200
Memory: 1GB RAM
Storage: 80GB Seagate HDD, 120GB Seagate HDD
OS: WinXP / FC4 DualBoot

minuet (experimental computer)
Processor: 600 MHz Intel PentiumIII
Memory: 256MB RAM
Storage: 30GB Western Digital HDD
OS: Slackware9 / FC3
Note: Has 2 NICs

antiphon (Wife's / Kids' Computer)
Processor: 2GHz Pentium 4
Memory: 1GB RAM
Storage: 200GB Seagate
OS: WinXP

chaconne (Crappy Laptop)
Type: Dell Inspiron
Processor: 500MHz PentiumIII
Memory: 128MB RAM
OS: Win2K

canzona (Production Laptop)
Type: IBM ThinkPad
Processor: 2.5GHz Pentium 4
Memory: 640MB RAM
OS: WinXP / FC4 Dual Boot

toccata (Wife's Work Laptop)
Type: Dell Latitude
Processor: 2GHz Pentium 4
Memory: 1GB RAM
OS: Win2K

concerto (Wireless G Router)
Type: LinkSys WRK54G
Note: nocturne, bolero, minuet hardwired into router

Other
I currently own inflectus.com, and have hosting set up through netfirms.com (highly reccommend, btw). I also have a few D-Link DCS-5300 cameras that I use to monitor what is going on in and around my house as well as 3 printers (HP PhotoSmart 2610, HP Designjet 5500, HP LaserJet 5). I am connected to the internet using Time-Warner RoadRunner Cable Internet.

My Qualifications
I am moderately adept at configuration of computers, more with Linux than with WinXP, but I have very little experience with setting up a network more complicated than a simple NFS / Samba / Workgroup based network. I think my network is going to have to grow soon, and I want to be able to expand it. I also have moderate programming experience, so if anything needs to be custom written, I may be able to handle it...

HELP!
Any advice or tips that you can give me would be REALLY helpful. Any web resources or books would be good, and any walkthroughs would be ideal. I really need to know what servers I need to set up in order to make this happen, as well as any special configuration I need to do to make this happen (or work better). Finally, any suggestions as to any other services that I could use / don't need would be very welcome.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help!

OK so your server bolero has RHEL4 and 2 NICs, that will cover all your requirements, including the fun feature.

With the dual boot computers you will need to setup a network that both operating systems can talk to. Most likely a samba domain with an ldap directory.

controlling access to the internet, you install a proxy server like squid on the server and then set it as the gateway in dhcp, all devices will have to go through it to get to the internet.

to me you need to research DNS(bind), dhcp, http proxy(squid), firewall
