server shutdown leaves power on

Hi, I just installed Red Hat 9 on a desktop PC (not a laptop). Prior to installation, Windows 98 would shut down AND turn the power off. So, doesn't sound like a BIOS problem. Now if I do a shutdown -h now Linux does it's thing and then stopsd at the Power Down message - so I have to manually switch the power off. Surely I don't need APM or ACPI for this. Or do I? I searched redhat.com but found nothing relevent. Any ideas?

yes theres a setting ACPM, i think its called APM (like you said) it works on my little thin-client box.

Thanks. But I'm having problems getting APM into the RH9 kernel so let's close this thread and I'll post in the RH forum
