seeking a resolution to my resolution troubles!

hello,

x seems to think my generic acme-style LCD monitor has a native reolution of 88x89 DPI.

nothing looks out of place however, and the GeForce drivers loaded.

Should I change it to 72 or will I be inviting myself to another reinstall session if I do?

I've had no luck with any of my other threads here, let's hope I do this time!!!

(oh yeah, generic laptop, 3Ghz, 256MB, Geforce 4go, Mandrake 10, blah, blah)

Changing the resolution will not damage your system. All it will do is make the screen image appear larger or smaller. -- J.W.

unless of course you enter an in-compatable resolution into XF86Config...
then your X server will fail to load... but you can easily edit your XF86Config from command line to correct it.

/etc/X11/XF86Config
