Question Screen overrange

Hi,

I tried to install Red Hat Linux 8.0 into my PC (Intel Desktop Board D845GBV), the first graphical screen for choosing installation methods could show without problem. But once I chose Graphical installation, the screen showed 'Overrange'.

I tried two brands of 15' screen.

Topcon MONL3-150TV :- The installation screens lean to left side and the signal 'Overrange' is shown in the middle of the screen. Therefore I can't tune the screen to the right.

NEC Multisyn :- The whole screen become black. Nothing can be shown. And the signal 'Overrange' appears.

Would you like to help me, Thank you!

Benson

Have you tried using the text-mode installation instead? What happens with it?

Rover has a point...

The 'inital graphical' section isn't actually X. It's a GTK front.

I suspect that X is setting a signal frequency that's not supported by your monitor.

Do as Rover suggests - do a Text install, then run
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config to do a text setup of X, specify standard VGA, refresh rate of 60hz, and get it up and running. Once you're up, you can play with resolutions / refresh rates to fit your monitor..

Slick.

I've tried your idea, but it still didn't work. I've checked with the XFree86.org and knew my drive for my motherborad was not new enough. So I have to update my drive. I'll tell you my progress after I get my drive.

Thank you for your suggestion.
