Samba groups

Hello.

Is there any trick to getting a whole group to be able to read/write to a samba share? I can't get it to work properly.

This is the section in my smb.conf file...

[share]
comment = shared stuff
path = /share
public = yes
writable = yes
printable = no
write list = @admins

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks!!!

I think that you have the the correct setup for the group "admins" to be able to write to it.

If you put individual user names in the write list does that work?

Perhaps the group has to exist on both the server and clients....

Hi,

Yeah I've tried putting individual users aswell but still doesn't work.

Anyway, it's not a huge problem anyway.

Thanks for the info, I thought I might be missing something stupid.

Thanks guys.

I use the option "admin users =" and it works for me, I only have one user that can modify the shares though (and it ain't even my own account! hows that for secure

I'm not sure if it supports groups or not though, have a read on the man page about it.
