Running more than one app at once from SSH

Hi!

It's been a while I haven't used Linux and I forgot a lot.

A friend of mine pays for a server in a company to run a Medal of Honor server, anyhow, that server that runs Unix obviously hasn't got a GUI so it's a bit of a paine for him coz he knows even less than me

Anyhow, I remember launching some applications from the window shell but under KDE, and as soon as I closed the window it would also stop the app. Basically my friend is trying to do the same thing but without the GUI, so he types in the long command that loads the MOH server and then when he wants to do something else the computer just stops the MOH server.

Is there anything he could add to the command so it loads the MOH server and allows him to then launch anything else?

Thx!

yeah sorry I know it's pretty basic and I've just realised what it was coz I just did the LQ quiz

hehe, got a score of 3 out of 10

I'm gonna reset my linux box (coz I had some trouble with the comp that's why I couldn't keep learning) and I'll try not too ask such dumbs questions again.

Thx!

Hey all...

In regards to the MOH:AA server:
I'm running a dedicated MOH:AA w/OC-3 T3 conn.

(RedHat 7.2 BTW)

Problem is this:
The MODs I've made work fine on my box at home, and all but one work on the dedicated server. For some reason, it just doesn't pick up the MOD for the KAR98.

I've checked it again and again on my box, and the MOD works on my end, but not server side.

Any suggestions?

MOD: basically, limited sniper rifles to 1 round in chamber at a time.

P.S. It's kinda tac play. MGs, and regular rifles only. Once I fix the snipers, I'll add those too. Stop by if you like.

All I ask is don't piss me off, and respect the gameplay. If you don't like it, please use constructive criticism, and be done with it.

tnx all.

Or you could run it in a screen session... That's how I run my DoD server.

That way you can resume is quite easily as well.
