Running additional Network Tools on Linux Based Router
Hello All,
I have a linux based Firewall/Router which performs my basic WAN routing and firewall needs. From what I've gattered, it's running a generic form of linux directly from flash memory. I am able to perform all the basic network tool functions, such as ping, trace, nestat. But I also want to install iftop to manage bandwidth usage. I've tried installing directly to router via compilation, but I'm running into some issues because of locked directories, no space on filesystem and other lib requirement. I found out I can attact a usb-flash, and I am able to mount it on /var I believe. Is there a way to install iftop to run off the usb-flash drive along with any other required libs that are necesary??? This is the system info I have been able to gather from my router:
Linux version 2.6.22.x (x86qa@qaquad) (gcc version 3.3.6) #1 Mon Jun 7 00:36:40 PDT 2010
Linux 4552 2.6.22.x #1 Mon Jun 7 00:36:40 PDT 2010 ppc unknown

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
