repair corrupted ext3 filesystem

Is there any way to get the ext3 filesystem repaired. I fiddled with the Write Support of Explore2fs and made some changes in my root directory. And since then, I am not able to load gnulinux and the reason is that my root fs is corrupted.

any clues how get the fs repaired.

regards,
vijay.

use your distro cd's or a rescue distro like tomsrtbt to boot to linux and use fsck to try to repair the file system.

If you guys can be more elaborative to this question I would be highly grateful.Recently due to a bug in samba my filesystem has got corrupted and giving me a lot of problem . I tried to repair it by reading this:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/repair...le-system.html

but of no use, as I am unable to do init 1 in my ubuntu 9.04 system.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

shankhs;

Please don't jump into old threads like this---I suggest that you start a new thread which stands on it's own. (But search first---there is a lot of stuff on filesystem repair and recovery.)

Good luck
