Angry Redhat 7.3 errors

I installed redhat and xp, I used grub and graphical start up. When I start up redhat, the following fail to load:
1. bringing up interface eth0 -> failed

I also get the following message about a dozen times: "airo: Max tries exceeded when issuing command". Some times I will get the message " starting up apm deamon" in between the dozen max tries error.

Instead of x loading, I get a command prompt, so I log in as root and I startx, I get the error: server is already active for display 0

The other problem is at shut down. When I ctrl alt del, it starts shutting down and I get the following:
1. Xinitd -> Failed
2. NFS Statd -> Failed
then when it gets to 'shutting down system logger' it freezes and I have to hit the power button to get it off. Any help would be great!

It sounds like you have improperly configured network card and X windows. It may be quicker to simply do a fresh installation of a more current distro, such as SuSe or Mandrake.
