Question about Linux version Firefox bookmark file

What I want to do is have a common set of bookmarks for serveral users.

Is there a pointer in Linux Firefox "about:config" which points to the bookmarks?

In the Windows version there is "browser.bookmark.file" which shows where the bookmarks are stored.

browser.bookmarks.file userset string C:\Bookmarks\bookmarks.html

In my Window version I use the user .js to point to a common set of bookmarks that a number of users can use. This is the entry from my Windows version:

user_pref("browser.bookmarks.file", "C:\\Bookmarks\\bookmarks.html");

I have looked in the Linux version for this same thing but can not find it. What I would like to do is the same in Linux version of Firefox. I tryed the following in my Linux version but it did not work.

user_pref("browser.bookmarks.file", "/home/me/bookmarks/bookmarks.html");

The bookmarks are stored in the "home"
sub "me"
sub "bookmarks".
file named bookmarks.html.

I have posted this in the Mozilla Firefox forum but I did not get any responses so I figure I would post it here. I have also checked out the Help area.

Does anyone know how to do this ??

Could this be a file permissions problem? If you have the users me, him and her, the users him and her cannot as much as view any file that is located in /home/me. You'd have to either move the bookmark file to a location that all can see it in or give permission for others to see that file.

I have checked the permission and it is
rwx rwx r-x
for the file.
I am new to this but I believe this means
user___has read write and execute privileges
group__has read write and execute privileges
other___has read and execute privileges.

So it seems like it should be able to be used by the all.

Am I right or wrong ?
Do I need to look for something else?

That does seem like it should work. To test log in as someone else and see if you can type that location and file into a browser and see the links. If you can't, then move it to somewhere that everybody can see it. If you can see it then I have no idea what the problem is.

Will I got it to work.
It was a silly mistake on my part.
What I had not done was to copy my "user.js" file into my "root" phoenix profile directory.

So now I have one set of bookmarks which is accessable from all users.

Thanks for your input.

Now for the next problem.
How to connect my linux machine and my win98 machine.

I will be starting a new thread so there is no neeed to answer any questions here.

Thanks again.
