Purposely delay all audio?

I've got a computer hooked up to my TV and it seems that all video files have audio that is a fraction too early. The files are fine on my laptop. I wonder if there is a way to delay all sound on the computer to help with this problem.

Thanks

Which video player do you use? It may have a sync setting which can be added to the default. For example, with mplayer, you could add an entry "delay <seconds>" to ~/.mplayer/config. The value is a signed floating point number.

Ah brilliant, I didn't think of the player having a default setting for all files. I'm using XBMC at the moment; I'm sure that will have an option to do this.

Many thanks
