I've just installed Gentoo, only to find that I did something wrong! My nvidia-kernel never emerged right, so now I need to boot from the Gentoo LiveCD again and fix the problem.
Problem is, although my BIOS is set to boot from the CDROM drive first, GNU GRUB opens first (v.94) and after scanning their documentation for ways to boot from a CD, I've found none.
Any advice or solutions? I'm willing to completely redo the install if I have to, it's not that hard, but I CAN'T BOOT.
Also, if effort is made to boot from the kernel as of now, it simply hangs there (root (hd0,0); kernel /kernel-2.6.11-r3; boot).
I followed the gentoo install docs to the letter as far as how to partition (using the example).
Somethings not right in the BIOS, or with the disk.

If it checked the disk, then it should never reach GRUB. Double check bios, make sure you disable booting from any other devices. and see if the CD drive lights up at all.
Yes, the CD is being checked, yes the lights are working. When effort was made to disable all of the other devices, upon reboot I was given a message to insert bootable media/reconfigure to a bootable device. (This is also happening on an old laptop of mine, though I've gotten no clues there either)
I fiddled with the boot order some more, eventually turning off the floppy and otherwise resetting it to its original state, rendering magically successful.
