problems starting linux distro

I tried to find a category for this question, but I didn't see a PClinux or SLAX area so I thought I'd try to post the question in this general section. So below is the problem I'm having with the two distros.

I've found 2 live linux cds that will work on my system, but there's one nagging problem with both of them. Whenever I'm in windows and hit the restart to get to the slax or pclinux cd, I get to the screen where I hit the enter button, it starts to load and then restarts the computer, taking me back to the exact same starting point. If I turn the computer off, I'm able to get pclinux or slax loaded. Any ideas? Why do I have to turn the computer off instead of just restarting?

Check your bios settings and see if it will boot from your cdrom drive.
