Problems Installing Lycoris on an Inspiron 8200??...

I cannot manage to install Lycoris on my Inspiron 8200. It gets to the point where it loads the GUI for the Lizard install program, and I cannot do anything because the display is oversized and not on the screen. I've heard this could just be an issue w/ Dell laptops that cannot be resolved, but anyone have any ideas.

I'm trying to install it on an 8 gig partition which I'm also not sure how to set up. I just used Partition Magic to adjust the size of my Windows partition to free up 8 gigs of unpartitioned space.

Thanks in Advance

No need for a tutorial

Every Linux distro should have the option of having a text based or GUI based installation...i remember installing lycoris before and i remember that option, try booting your disks again and look around at all your options...

I don't think I get far enough into the install to get that option... As soon as I boot to the CD I get 3 options

1) install lycoris
2) do not probe for video card
3) do not probe at all

Regardless of which I choose, it then goes to a screen that preps for the install... Then it says loading the Lizard, but when it gets to the install screen I cannot see anything or do anything so I have to reboot.

Tried again to find an option to no avail... I just get to those three options as stated above, then it loads the kernel, a blue dot screen pops up for a few seconds, then a jumble of text that I'm assuming is the install GUI pops up. Its just a small list of features that I can partially read. When I press ctr-alt-del a little pop up comes up which I can't read but if I press enter then it reboots.

I think its impossible to install it. I may have to dload and try another distribution. Anyone else have an I8200 and success w/ a specific distribution?

Build 46 is supposed to be stable.... I would install mandrake or redhat but I'm out of CD's and I'm too lazy and cheap to go to the store and buy more....

Plus, I've heard Lycoris is good and I just wanted to get it working.

Lycoris is mainly for those people who are scared of Windows and want to use Linux

Yeh i had the same problem with build 46, could just be that build?

It hanged oh that same spot for me....and i have a custom made box...

Try a different build...

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 running both RH7.3, and RH8.0, both work great. The NVIDIA geforce card is a little tricky but works great once it is setup. Have you checked out linux-laptops.net? They didn't have i8200 last time I was there, but the I8100 is the same thing (minus the P4 and half a gig of ram). My next thing is going to be blowing away RH8 and trying a new distro., perhaps Mandy or Solaris 9 x86 (due out soon)?
