Problems configuring login manager

Hey everybody!

I am running Mandrake 9.1 on a Dell Inspiron 8200. I can't figure out how to change my graphical login manager from the ugly default one. I have tried to edit the inittab like everyone says to do but it not the exact same file as everyone describes it. I was told to change the runlevel to 5 and that is allready all set. Then i was told to change this:

x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/X11/xdm -nodaemon

x:5:respawn:/opt/kde/bin/kdm -nodaemon

but i have two problems. The first problem is that the first line doesn't exist in my inittab. The closest line is:

5:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty5

which isnt even close! So if anyone can help me out, again i am running Mandrake 9.1 and i want to change my login manager to kdm or gdm or anything please tell me how! Thank you.

Have you tried using grep on the /etc directory to see where xdm is being called, since it isn't being called from init?
