Problem With User Authentication in Linux

Hi,
I have a laptop connected to our office network. It is running RHEL WS and Linux 2.6.9-1.648. The authentication is setup to use LDAP. The problem is I am not able to login certain users (defined in our LDAP) but some users are able to login. The message is:
unix_chkpwd[3464]: could not get username from shadow ...

I have disabled SELinux in /etc/selinux/conf.
The /etc/nsswitch.conf file :
passwd: files ldap
shadow: files ldap
group: files ldap
hosts: files dns
bootparams: files
ethers: files
netmasks: files
networks: files
protocols: files ldap
rpc: files
services: files ldap
netgroup: files ldap
publickey: files
automount: files ldap
aliases: files

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps no shadowaccount object class on those entries inside of LDAP?? Not sure.
