Problem with useless Windows....again!!!
Hi. My Windows and SUSE have been dual-booting fine for days and then all of the sudden. Windows won't boot, grub spits the message Unrecognized file system type back at me. I'm getting close to just selling all my games, counting a loss on most of them, and just having Linux on my computer. I had just Linux for a month and had 0 problems, go back to Windows for 3 days and I have had so many problems I feel like snapping my Windows CD to make sure I never go back to it again.
Can you tell us the error message. It sounds like a problem I had where on the part of the disk where grub is held is saying the windows partition is not the format it really is. If you know the exact message and that is the problem you can fix it by editing the format.

To me this all looks proper. It happened right after I wrote some files to my FAT32 partition from Linux. The files were fairly large. Could this have caused something.
Your right that all looks in order. I'm afraid im not much more use here. Good luck in getting it fixed. You still got linux and its loads better than windows anyway.

Well, deleted Windows, and have installed Fedora now, because I had been planning on going back to Fedora for quite some time now. My HD was being weird and I figured it needed a low level format, and to me, Windows is not worth the electricity a low level format would use , so, now I only have Linux on my pc...again!!! This time I think I'm not going back though .

The only thing that kind of makes me mad is that I (obviously) bought the beast below for games. Linux has some good games....but Windows is way better for games....oh well, I wasn't playing them much anymore anyways....
A website should be started to entice more users to Linux. It should have more publicity than sites such as www.linux.org and www.linux.com have as nobody from my school has heard of em (it came up in class one day). Look at how that spreadfirefox.com or w/e it is has dented IE's marketshare as much as it has in less than a week. Instead of setting up a website and hoping some Windows users accidentally stumble over it like Linspire and Xandros have decided to do, it should have links everywhere to it, pointing espescially to www.xandros.com and maybe, if they become more like team players...linspire.com ).Hell, I would happily work on a site like this.

What baffles me is that these companies (Xandros Lycoris and Linspire) don't advertise at all. Oh, sorry, there was a Sub500 commercial with a little Linspire logo in the bottom left corner, which Linspire referred to as advertising . I guess they expect normal people that don't know anything about computers to one day go to google and type in Windows alternatives or something like that. Idiots. the only reason people aren't switching is because there isn't enough advertising.
you could just send messenger spam to every windows user with the url of the site. only problem is anyone with half a brain disables messenger service. How about writing a program that contains the slackware iso's, deletes windows and installs itself. then they wouldnt even have to think about it
download_famous_popstar_naked_video.isos.exe
please wait while we install the videos.........
please reboot.......
would be fun to do that with a micro-distro, imagine the confusion when they boot the pc to see
Code:
root@linux#
Has anyone seen the IBM ad where linux is the little guy, who speaks every language etc, only time ive ever seen linux mentioned on tv, and a dam good ad for it

Hey, now that's a good idea . We'll just force people to use Linux.
I was thinking though, maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to put Microsoft out of business....could you imagine all the people that would be out of work that make their living by cleaning viruses off of people's computers. And without Microsoft forcing people to upgrade their computers and throw out perfectly good older ones, companies like Dell might go out of business.....we can't have that happening! . The whole economy relies on Microsoft screwing money out of everyone!!!!
