Problem Installing Linux on Compaq Proliant 5000...
Ok, I've seen tons of posts with people with memory problems (not seeing above 16), kernal panics, etc. I've got past all that. I've even been all over cpqlinux.com looking at their smart 2/E install etc. I've done everything it says: I have erased all data > reconfigured SCU > and Setup RAID 0 (4x4.3GB) with ACU.
My issue is that it goes through the whole install (I manually select smart 2 driver with module options eisa=0x2000) and gets to the point of partitioning and then it says:
"An error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem."
How do I get RH 9 installation to see the striped logical drive? Am I missing a step?
Please HELP! I really don't want to have to keep Windows on it...
My system is a Compaq Proliant 5000 w/ the Smart 2/E EISA RAID Controller
Thanks,
- Matt
PS Hopefully this hasn't been posted already, I've searched lots!
Ya, sorry, didn't exactly know where to put this, I put it in newbie first (didn't get any response), then here, then thought maybe it should go in RedHat section, so this and redhat were double posted...sorry
