I am pretty new to Linux, One of my professors installed MDK 9.0 for another student in class and I liked the setup. After using default MDK partitioner, Win2k will not start up. I only get option to load linux. I resized my Windows partition giving 7 gig to linux. Thought everything would work fine, but only Linux boots up. I tried booting from my rescue disk and it still has problems. Anything I can try?
open /etc/lilo.conf in an editor and at the end add lines that say:
Code:
other=/dev/hda1
label=Windows
then exit and run "lilo -t" assuming it doesn't complain run "lilo" and when you reboot you should have the windows option added. btw, i assume your windows parittion is just the first one on the driver, if not you will need to change hda1 to a different parameter. run fdisk -l /dev/hda for a list.
my file lilo.conf had:
other=/dev/fd0
label=floppy
unsafe
I changed to what you said, I took out the "unsafe" after i did it it said:
Added linux *
Added linux nonfb
Added failsafe
Added Windows
I shutdown and restarted, but still don't get option to load windows. I tried putting the "unsafe" back in and i tried using lowercase w in windows, ha. Thanks for your help.
I thought it worked, but then...when i boot up it only gives me the option to start in linux. I forgot to put after it said it added of all that stuff it said "boot sector and map file have *NOT* been altered" ?
Alright, sorry. It worked, windows is now an option, but now I have some corrupt windows file "ifshlp.sys" and "\system\vmm32.vxd" Thanks for your help!
