Problem after hard reboot

My system is SuSE 10.1 Things went smoothly before I edited the ntp on /etc/init.d/. After that I wanted to shutdown the system but it hanged so I had to do a hard reboot. Now things are going crazy, the keyboard does not work anymore (only mouse is working), I can never shutdown properly again (it always hangs during shutdown), and startup taking soooo long. Please help.....!!!

OK, I managed to solve the problem after deleting the ntp file. Now since I need to write a new one, can someone tell me the content of this file (again, my system is SuSE 10.1).
