Prevent websites from detecting my locale!

For example, when I visit www.ubi.com I automatically get redirected to www.ubi.com/DE because they somhow detect my German locale. This is getting really annoying, as there are many websites that do the same. How can I prevent them from doing so?

Many thanks,
moo-cow

Remove locale from browser, use proxy in say .ar .
Maybe need to disable Javascript as well, just check.

If you're using firefox, you could use the user agent switcher... if they're detecting locale. If you have a German ISP, they could be detecting that instead.

Is there a reason this bothers you? I think it's good so you see the site in your language of choice.

I think you'd have to go through a proxy to be 100% certain they won't know your locale. any site you go directly to has access to your IP addess, which can be used to find out where you are, or at least what your "locale" is.

Hm, a proxy would be too much of a fuss for my taste... I had hoped there would be an easier way. Thanks for your suggestions!

@Matir
And what if German is NOT the language of my choice but just the language of the country I happen to live in? Nothing against German (after all it's my mother tongue ), I just prefer to read certain websites in English, as e.g. computer terms often get funny or even confusing when they are translated to another language than English. Another case where I want the English website is when I try to look up a computer game or the like on the website of the publisher and do not find it because it has not been published (or forbidden!) in Germany. Or maybe I just want to practice my English?
