Powersaving for desktops
I leave my Linux box on most of the time, as I need to access it too regularly through the day to keep booting it up every time.
But it eats a lot of power that way, so I've started looking into powersaving functionality. Trouble is, most of the documentation is aimed at laptops, of course, and come with specific "This doesn't apply to non-laptop" warnings.
So I'm just wanting to check: My MoBo (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) supports Suspend-to-RAM, which seems to be what I'm after. Is it just a matter of setting up APCI and I'm done? Or should I expect multiple stumbling blocks along the way. . ?
And is ACPI the way to go, or does APM do a better job? Some guides have rated APM as better, but they aren't that up to date, so I'm not quite sure about their status right now. .
