Porting from Solaris to Linux

Hi all,


We are porting a solaris c++ application to linux/gnu c++. Is there any good link or forum form the same

Well we have a Solaris forum here and this is definitely a Linux forum mainly but what kind of links are you looking for? More details gets better responses, etc.

I am looking for people experiences in porting an application to linux, Any useful tips or links will be helpful

Like What library call are changed from solaris to linux. And what utility names are changed ?. for an example system monitoring utilities like truss vmstat , prstat are disappeared on linux. what are the alternate utilities

I don't know any links totally off top of my head except maybe www.tldp.org or any other site that has a listing of the basic commands in Linux might be useful.

You can always google.com/linux for seeking specifics about Linux, etc.
