POP and IMAP together

Hi,

I am using FC3, I have postfix installed. I currently use imap-2002d-3 for my pop server which I connect to using Mozilla Thunderbird, sadly from my windows machine (not my choice, it's a work thing !!).. Anyway, I have just installed Squirrelmail so that I can access my mail whilst at work (I sit behind a very strict proxy server). Is it possible to have both imap and pop running at the same time? Whilst at home I will be using pop, but when at work and if my family want a mail they'll perfer to use imap via squirrelmail.

I believe that dovecot works out both imap and pop at the same time, but I am unable to install that as the FC3 distro comes with a poor version of openldap, which includes the wrong libldap.so.2

Any suggestions welcome...

SiE

I don't think you can but I am not a mail server pro. My guess would be, you either use pop3 or imap, I am pretty sure u can't use both at the same time but like I said, I am not a mail server pro

Can you explain why not? They run on different ports. Even though they will be talking to the same mailbox, surely both are available to be started? I won't be using both at the same time just want them to both start and be avialable.
