Please help! Search using telnet?

Hello,

I am a new telnet user. I dont know much about it at all.

I saved my database from vbulletin to my server, but dont know where it saved it. So, i need to learn how to search for anything with the .sql extension, then download it to my pc. Please help me!

I am using ensim btw.

I don't know what ensim is but I'll try to help a bit anyway.

If you're not in your home directory cd there. Usually just typing cd and pressing enter will get you to your home directory.

Type this command to find any and all files with a .sql filename extension and print their locations.
find . -name *.sql

The period (or dot) in the command above means "the current directory". So it's basically "Search for all files in this directory and all subdirectories for files with the .sql filename extension."

Now when you know where the file is, FTP to your server (you can still have your telnet session open usually) and grab the file.

It looks like Ensim is a configuration frontend for Linux and similar systems running web servers, so you're most likely using Linux. If you're unsure you can type the command uname when you have telnetted to the server in order to find out.

Anyway, if you're using Linux the find command I typed in my previous post will most certainly work.
