Please help me Install me cable modem

I am using a cable modem (SB4100, USB, 256k) and i want to install it in Mandrake 9.0/9.1. under detected hardware it is listed as unknown. I believe i may have to install the driver on mandrake, but i am not sure how. PLEASE list in steps so i can easily get it working. I need internet on Mandrake before i become an all out linux user. please respond asap.

Easy with the asap boss. Anyway from your question I'm guessing that your network card is not being detected right? What network card are you using?

TCP/IP MOTOROLA SURFBOARD 4100 USB CABLE MODEM, is that what your asking for?
or was it
NDIS 1394 NET ADAPTER

Did you have the network card in when you installed Mandrake or did you add it after you installed Mandrake? The install should have detected your network card.

i had this network card since i had my computer..... so to answer your Question yes i had my network card before i installed Mandrake 9.1 BETA

Well I wish I could help but I'm not very good with hardware. If linux doesn't detect it then I usually just stomp my feet and cry. Maybe try running kudzu to see if it will detect your nic card. If not do a little google'ing.
