Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a complete to RedHat
I am having some problems with my sound i dont have any.
I click on Soundcard Detection and i get :-

Vendor: Intel Corp.
Model: 82801BAM/BA AC'97 Audio
Module: disabled

I click play test sound and i get
The disabled driver could not be loaded. This soundcard may not be compatible with Red Hat Linux.

I found out about ALSA so i visited their website and started to follow the steps to configureing the drivers the webpage is
ithttp://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...odule=intel8x0
when i get to ./configure --with-cards=intel8x0 --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install

it starts to scroll down with a lot of text in the terminal. but then at the end it says:-
/sbin/depmod -a 2.4.20-8
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o
if [ -L /usr/include/sound ]; then \
rm -f /usr/include/sound; \
ln -sf /usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-0.9.1/include/sound /usr/include/sound; \
else \
rm -rf /usr/include/sound; \
install -d -m 755 -g root -o root /usr/include/sound; \
for f in include/sound/*.h; do \
install -m 644 -g root -o root $f /usr/include/sound; \
done \
fi
if [ -d /sbin/init.d ]; then \
install -m 755 -g root -o root utils/alsasound /sbin/init.d/alsasound; \
elif [ -d /etc/rc.d/init.d ]; then \
install -m 755 -g root -o root utils/alsasound /etc/rc.d/init.d/alsasound; \
elif [ -d /etc/init.d ]; then \
install -m 755 -g root -o root utils/alsasound /etc/init.d/alsasound; \
fi
cat WARNING

WARNING!!! The mixer channels for the ALSA driver are muted by default!!!
**************************************************************************
You would use some ALSA or OSS mixer to set the appropriate volume.

So can u help me out please because this unresolved symbols thing mucks up the whole process. Any help would be appreciated but you will have to explain it in some detail cause im a newbie.

Thanks

JOSH

Why do you keep creating a new thread regarding the same issue when you have ongoing threads asking the same question?

This is double posting and its not allowed on this site. http://www.linuxquestions.org/rules.php

This thread is being closed, as you have the same question being asked and answered with replies in both the software forum and the hardware forum. Refer to those please, do not post this same question again, you've been warned.
