pkg-config usage to find libraries
hi-
i am new to setting environment variables.
i found that on my system pkg-config is an
executable file residing in /usr/bin.
i see you can call that executable with options
like $ pkg-config --variable=prefix glib-2.0
now i am installing bluefish editor for linux.
i am going to do ./config and make and then make install
./config says this:
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
No package 'gmodule-2.0' found
No package 'gobject-2.0' found
No package 'glib-2.0' found
No package 'pango' found
No package 'gdk-pixbuf-2.0' found
No package 'gdk-2.0' found
No package 'gnome-vfs-2.0' found
No package 'libxml-2.0' found
some of those are located in /usr/lib
i want the system to find the packages.
i was thinking maybe: $ pkg-congig --libs-only-L /usr/lib
"This prints the -L/-R part of "--libs". That is, it defines the library search path but doesn't specify which libraries to link with."
please let me if this is ok. i want to install geany editor,
and bluefish. i am going to use them for PHP, Haxe, Flex,
and HTML/CSS. i am excited that linux now has alternatives
that i like for pspad and flashdevelop in windows.
thanks very much,
