PcmanFM and HDD

The default install I have is LXDE. Using Openbox with pcmanfm and my external usb hdd, I can see the ext. hdd in pcmanfm, but if I add this command to autostart, "dbus-launch pcmanfm -d", and after a reboot, I do not see the ext hdd in pcmanfm.
When I type the mount cmd, I do see the ext drive is mounted. I also have an entry in "/etc/fstab" for the ext hdd. The distro is Hyperbola running Openrc.

If I just launch pcmanfm, I see the ext hdd. Pcmanfm is showing any other partitions on the left side. it only show Home Folder, Desktop, Applications, Filesystem and the ext hdd.

The problem it seems is when I run it like this, "dbus-launch pcmanfm -d". Then my other partitions show on the left pane window of pcmanfm but not the ext. hdd

When I run "dbus-launch pcmanfm -d", I see Volume Monitor entries, but if I run pcmanfm alone, I do not see all those partition entries.

The link below show how it look using ps ax command.
https://bpaste.net/show/693e905eccf3

Any ideas what's wrong and if it can be fixed?

Thanks.

why "dbus-launch"?
why not just "pcmanfm -d"?

or maybe a delay can help: "sleep 5; pcmanfm -d"

also, are you sure that the daemon isn't already being started by LXDE?

I did try with just pcmanfm -d and get the same results, I can see partitions but not the ext. hdd and the delay portion made no difference.

I run Openbox or i3wm but the wife login using LXDE. I'll have to check to see if the daemon is started with only LXDE and without it.

Thanks for the reply.

Here is the output of ps ax command starting LXDE only & Openbox only. With LXDE, partitions show in the left panel of pcmanfm, no ext. hdd...but running Openbox only the ext. hdd show in the left panel and no partitions.
Maybe I'm overlooking something or another!

Code:

i have no idea why you think "ps ax" will be helpful here.

please do.
i have no other explanation for this.

btw, i never used the daemon because for me pcmanfm starts up quickly enough without it. it's so lightweight.

a thought:
does pcmanfm also manage desktop icons? maybe the daemon is redundant in that case?

I don't use the daemon either, but I tried it to see if it make a difference. With Openbox, I do not use it to manage desktop icons. I'm thinking it may be a bug or such coming from the distro. I've just installed XFE and will see how it pans out.

Thanks for the help.
