pcHDTV card not getting signal

I am trying to set up a computer with a pcHDTV and mythtv. When I tell mythtv to scan for channels, it says no signal. tvtime does the same. I know there is a tv signal on this line.

I am using Ubuntu Feisty. I have Comcast cable.

The coaxial plug on the back of the pcHDTV card comes off easily, but I wouldn't think that would cause this.

I should have the drivers already, right? I am unable to compile the ones off of pcHDTV's website, but according to that website I should already have the drivers anyway.

Any advice on what could be causing this?

more system details?

What are some of the details on the motherboard and system you have?

I had a similar problem when I first tried to make a Mythtv system a year ago. I had an Asus P2B motherboard that was NOT pci 2.2 compliant and thus Linux and Mythtv could not access the pchdtv HD-3000 card. For the pcHDTV cards (both the HD-3000 and the HD-5500) to work, the motherboard must be pci 2.2 compliant. After I switched to a newer motherboard, I was fine.

One other note: for Mythtv to access a pcHDTV card, I had to set the card type to a DVB card and use the generic DVB drivers built into Mythtv.

The setup screens for a DVB device like one of the pcHDTV cards can be seen here:
http://www.digitalregime.com/mythdvb/setup/

I hope this helps.

I'm running the Knoppmyth distro which has Mythtv compiled into the OS so there is no driver download, etc. You just install and go!

Eric
