And so, as these things come to pass, I find myself using Firefox instead of I.E.6 because I am always looking for something better, more configurable, faster, etc . . .
This led me to using linux over windows for the same reason(the boogyman wasn't that bad after all!)
And now, after a few months of linux, I have switched to Opera, and am very impressed. Stupid name, cool browser. Everything is configurable, and you have 400 skins to choose from. This doesn't mean I'm throwing away Firefox(when I made the switch to linux from windows, I dropped windows like a rock) Fire fox is an excellent browser, and has it's perks as well. I could see myself using both of them equally in the future depending on what I'm doing.
What do some of the rest of you think?
What about Konqueror, or another?
I use all three, with LQ Forums as my home page in each one. Which one I use depends on which icon is closest to the mouse cursor when I'm ready to surf.
At present im using konquer more often then not, jus because its kde intigrated so it fits my visual style and things. However its support for plugins does kind of suck. I do quite like opera although I havent used it for a few months now. Firefox I use when konquer wont work properly on pagfes for example any that have streamable media konqer does not seme to like.
I have used Opera on and off for a year now (since they first started offering it for free), along with Netscape, Firefox, Konqueror, and IE (as required). The thing that keeps me from really getting interested in Opera is that it does not display some sites correctly. If they are running some scripting language for their menus (for example), the page can appear messed up. I do not have this problem with any of the other browsers I mentioned. If it did not have this problem, I would use it more. Still, it is hard to beat Firefox.

There's a lot to like about Opera, but there's a lot to hate, too. I have never, ever gotten the cookie management to work like it just does without any problems in Mozilla. Opera comes out of the box with all kinds of stuff that's bad for privacy, and the beta 9.0 is really a piece of garbage. I've never seen such a buggy GUI in my life.
I also hate Firebox and don't understand why everybody doesn't run Mozilla. Since nobody else agrees with me and Mozilla is disappearing, I hope Starfish or Seahorse or whatever they're gonna call it will be more like Mozilla than Firebox or I'll have to learn how to write my own browser.

I can't remember- it was so horrible I think I just blocked it out
I remember years ago it was touted as a lite browser but I never found that it performed any better than Mozilla in terms of responsiveness, and I guess I just liked the feature set and feel of Mozilla better. I used Netscape back in the day and I liked it a lot better than Exploder, which I hated from the beginning. Maybe that's why it was a natural transition for me to Mozilla. At first, Firefox was missing a lot of features but was a smaller executable; I had enough RAM and processor to run Mozilla, so I didn't bother. Then over the years they started adding features to Firebox and I didn't see what the point was- it was supposed to be the lite version of Mozilla but they seemed to lack focus. At some point it became the flagship. I think the identity crisis and unclear positioning didn't help if you started from the beginning. Maybe guys who came later and didn't see the history didn't have any reason not to like it, and never ran Mozilla.
I really like the cookie handling of Mozilla, it's exactly what I want. I don't think it's really ever been reproduced by any other browser. Even Firebox doesn't do it exactly the way Mozilla does. I guess by now I can get Mozilla to behave like I want and I haven't found anything else that works like it does. It would be nice if there was a browser-spoofing feature though, and the header disclosure is annoying as hell.
I tried to use Opera a few times just to compare it to Firefox, since alot of these threads pop up, and I get curious. But everytime I try it, after about five minutes trying to configure my cookies I just get frustrated and wonder what anyone sees in it. So, I can't really say Opera stinks, as I've never been able to use it for more than five minutes without cursing. :P
I found Konqueror to be awkward to use as a browser though it is good as a file browser. It's not that I don't like Mozilla, it's just I started using Firefox and got used to it, and since they are both so similar except that Firefox is more popular so you're going to have more extension and the like for it.

I know, it's crazy. It would seem like they could figure out how to handle cookies in a normal and understandable way!

I think because it's more popular there are probably more attacks on it also, which is another reason I keep away from it.
