no sound

hi there!im a newbie trying out ubuntu 7.10 and im experiencing problems with audio.when i click the volume control icon it tells me that Gstreamer plug ins are not installed in fact they are.when i type on the terminal alsamixer it is not found,lspci outputs the codes below.pls help me.thanks!

Hi sniper, Welcome to lq. I don't see a pci sound card in the list. What does pnpdump have to say? How about dmesg?
