No CDROM

I just got a Dell PowerEdge 750 and installed RH 9 on it via Symantec Ghost. Install went okay, but after installing, the CDRW/DVD ROM does not show up. I've added the drive to /etc/fstab, but still no luck. Any ideas why the drive is not recognized by RH? Thanks.

may i surgest using an up to date linux distro, quite alot has happened in laptop support in the 2.6 kernel.

anyways....

what do you actually mean by "does not show up" ?
no /dev/ node ???? or you havent added it to your kde desktop ?

post some info.

1) post your fstab,
2) IDE or SCSI ?
3) SCSI Address / IDE address ? primary slave, secondry master... what ?
4) i will be VERY surprised if redhat isnt detecting your cd-rom drive..... what does your kernel say about your cd-rom ???
run
Code:
dmegs | grep CD-ROM
dmesg | grep DVD-ROM

Re: No CDROM

Hey Triley,

Does that poweredge 750 server use a slim drive or a regular sized cd-rom? I'm thinking of getting one...
