Hello Everyone,
I just built my first PC ( A Shuttle AK 32-L Mainboard ) w/ VIA KT266, VT8366/VT8233 chipset and AMD's XP1700 CPU. The problem is that there is a ( driver? ) on the CD for Redhat 7.0 ( sound ) which I cannot get to work. I have Redhat 7.0 installed, however, when I loaded the file to a location under roots' home directory and gunzipped it and viewed the file in " X ", I cannot tell whether it is a "source" file, a "bin" file, or whatever! When I say "viewed" the file, I mean looking at it by using the file browser and looking at the bottom of the browser window ( which will sometimes tell you the "type" of file that you are looking at).It was a .gz file on the CD-ROM ( and before I decompressed it ) but it is uncompressed ( it only has the filename without the ".gz" .
#1. How can I tell what type of file it is?
#2. If it is a binary file, what is the proceedure to install it.
#3. If it is a source file, what proceedure do I use for installation?#4.It has to be one of those two file types; right?
A would appreciate any info in this matter.
P.S. I just went back to look at the file in a hex editor and I think that the file is an .elf file??? Now what do I do????
