I just installed Mandrake 8.1 & everything is working OK except for the sound.
The sound card is recognised & if I play a CD with the volume turned up fully on my speakers & on the program playing the CD I can hear it (just about)

When I log in I get the little tune playing & the sound sounds Ok ie at the correct volume.
The problem seem's to just be with music.
Does anyone know if there's a file I can edit to change the volume when playing CD's ???

Or even some sort of an idea why this is happening.

if your using kde, open kmix and adjust the cd slider. for some reason kmix's default setting has the cd audio almost muted.
