I never said anything about that, I use bsetbg to set my bg image, but I don't think that it should be a Window Manager's job to change it.

Does bsetbg actually change the background? It doesn't... Thats just a wrapper. I built my OS from scratch. I have to choose what I install.... My big beef is that I would have to install 2 window managers just to change my background... Actually It doesn't bother me. It seems to bother other people in this thread more than it does me.... Not too sure whats up with that...

It's linux zealotry coming through for sure. If you mention anything that can be improved there will be someone who counts it as a feature. But when the devs end up adding this as a feature they'll probably be happy just like you or I would be about it. For some reason they have to harass people though, don't ask me why.

I know... People always seem to get a little self-righteous when opinions are stated.... Well, it was a nice thought anyway.... I suppose Fluxbox is too cool and hardcore for silly stuff like backgrounds and such... Stupid me.... What was I thinking?

You don't have to install 2 or more window managers to set a background....there are several tools available which will do that from within any windowing system. This makes a background-setting window manager redundant, unless you want additional features like multiple images...that's more of a desktop envronment thing, though (e.g. KDE).
Fluxbox was made to be a simple and lightweight *window manager* (not a DE). As I mentioned earlier, I don't understand why it "should" add another tool that will double its size when there are background-setting tools already available in just about every distro. If you build your OS from scratch, I assume you're aware that there are many tools you have to download and install which would otherwise already be on a distribution CD.

setting backgrounds

maybe you could try binding fbsetbg commands to a set of fluxkeys,
i use the win button and my number pad, and hey presto instant on the fly wallpaper switching.
if it aint the windowmanagers job ... then make it its job !!
