I'm trying to set krusader as my default file manager.
I have gone into System Settings > Default Applications > File Manager and changed Dolphin to Krusader.
When I plug in a flash card the Device Notifier pops up and I click on the device inserted. The choices I get are Digikam, Dolphin, and Do Nothing.
I click on "Dolphin" (hard coded it appears) and it looks like Krusader tries to start. I get the cursor with the bouncing krusader mini-icon and an entry in the panel, but then nothing happens. It all goes away and I'm left with a blank screen (wallpaper, actually).
I've chosen Krusader from the menu, so presumably the arguments to it are good. I have KDE 4.3.3 and krusader 2.0.0.
The link to which smoker refers http://hygen.net/blog/?p=495 says to move the preferred file manager to the top of a list. The suggestion was appreciated. My reply was intended to indicate that krusader was already at the top, and that I was still seeking a solution to my problem. Sorry if I'm a bit abrupt.
I'm using 32-bit Gentoo on a 3Ghz dual-core AMD Athlon 6000+ with 2G RAM.
KDE 4.3.3
krusader 2.0.0
As stated in my original post, I went into System Settings, double-clicked on Default Applications, and single-clicked on File Manager.
Then I clicked on "Other", followed by clicking on the button with "..." on the same line.
Click on the lower "Add" button, next to the box labeled "Application Preference Order".
That gave me a pop-up window of Known Applications. In my system, Krusader appears under Utilities.
I selected Krusader. It immediately appeared at the top of the Application Preference Order list. I did not have to move it. The arguments to it are the same as what are in the start menu.

It doesnt work reliably for me so i decided to stick to mc until krusader gets a couple more features i want.
Full KDE 4 intergration is one of them.
Although since its development is rather stalled, i dont see this happening any time soon, if ever.
