MySQL on Redhat 8.0

I have create user for MySQL databases
When i try to connect the databases using that user the error message show that :"Access denied for user ...."

I use the same method to create a user on Mandrake 9.0..
It was succesfull...

But why i have fail in redhat 8.0?

I have recently installed MYSQL on redhat 7.3. I am a complete novice and don't know if this will help, but here goes...

Here is what I did as root ...

Grant usage on *.* to <user> on localhost identified by <pass>
(Adds a user)

Grant delete,insert,select,update on <dbase>.* to <user>@localhost;
(Adds priviledge to user)

logon as user and try ??
