MYSQL: Log and Conf file

Hi guys...

any idea where, by default, would mysql log file be? Just tried to do a restore of a database dump but it prompt error, but not detailed.

Because I check my.cnf, it shows /var/log/mysqld.log but that file is empty...

also.. is there another .conf file for mysql, where more options/configurations can be made? because i did a show variables in mysql and it showed many settings.. i suppose i can change them...

anyone? thanks man!

Try /var/db/mysql and /var/mysql as locations for the log. The MySQL logs only log program errors, not errors in your SQL syntax or anything like that. It might help if you posted the error message.

The config file is usually located in /etc/my.conf but that location can be changed.

Hi guys, recently my db had an error "Too many open connections" or something...

it was told to me by my colleague... apparently our forums showed the error..

1) What usually cause this problem and what can be used to give the server more connection?

2) My mysqld.log in /var/log shows a latest entry of july... i suppose no error in between? Is there any other log?

thanks!
