mysql installation/start

hi,

May anyone help me as i got problem to start mysql after installation

error as follows

#/usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start
/usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server :@HOSTNAME@: command not found

Are you running MySQL chrooted?
Check for the hostname binary using

I have jumped all steps after install_db ..
Although all rights haven't configured properly. which i will be doing later just trying hand over test database.
I can't start mysql from root, now i am trying it under mysql user and it is running correctly ????

why problem with root.
anyway, i have recently downloaded mysql documentation from www.mysql.org
and now studing mysql.
