Mplayer & gcc
I want to install mplayer, but it says that I have gcc compiler 2.96 and it wants 2.95. The mplayer homepage recommends downgrading to 2.95. I went and download the tarball for 2.95.3. Now I am at the point of installing the downgraded version. How do I go about doing this? Do I just treat it like a noraml tarball and use ./configure, make, etc.? What are other people's thoughts on having 2.95 instead of 2.96?

every tarball will have it's own nistructions in there which you should ***READ***. BUT, sod 2.95, install all the 3.0.something rpms instead, it's a lot lot easier. i'd recommend reading the mplayer email archives for other mplayer problems, you're bound to fnid an answer
