Memory leak with GDM?

Hi,

if I launch gdm and let it run, my mem usage starts to creep up something fierce. 512 megs and over three days of just being a nat relay, my machine is beginning to use swap space.

Has anyone else noticed this? Any fixes mentioned anywhere?

Thanks,
Alex

Which version are you running? I believe that there isn't a stable release yet so trying a different version may work.

I have had problems with GDM in the past although not memory leaks. If this is a bug then you should report it to the GDM Project which I think has changed names but I'm not sure?

Ow hehe, I thought Gnome was more stable than that...

I'm running the packages out of http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/mirror...lackware/gnome

should be recent.

I'll take a look at that page, thanks.

I'm experiencing similar symptoms, but it applies to any window manager I use.

512MB of memory will be used up in a few days of just sitting idle.

I'm running slack 8.1 on two computers and both experience this problem. Have you found a fix?

well, I'm running Enlightment on top of Gnome, and I don't have any kind of memory leak.
You guys should test your memory to see where it is indeed leaking, check it with one of these really cool programs!

:(

No fix yet unfortunately, I just reboot after I don't need GDM anymore. I guess we'll just have to cross our fingers for the next binary release.
