Map drawing software

I want to generate a random world map, complete with mountains, rivers and forests--Preferably editable, so that I can make it look...less random.

I want to use it as the basis for an online RPG I'm running--We've got a bit of a story, but no world map, so I want something solid to refer to in case anybody disagrees that city a is south of city b, and they're both on D continent, etc. etc.

Is there any software out there to do this?

Quick search of http://www.freshmeat.net turned up the following (which may or may not match exactly what you want):

http://freshmeat.net/projects/worlded/
