make grub boot rom a sd slot

hi all,
my aspire one has 2 sd slots but the bios doesnt support booting from either so i want to add a option in grub according to mount it is mounted as /dev/dsk/c9t0d0p0:1 so disk-by-id
i use opensolaris 2009.06 as my sole os with puppy on the sd
is there any way i can use grub to boot from the sd?

I am assuming u have grub already installed.... maybe you can map the device (the sd slot)in grub. try editing the devices.map or use the command device (grub-legacy) or loopback (grub2) from the grub prompt.

Yes you can also do that.... but you wont need it since modifying the existing grub is easier rather than installing a new one in every sd you wanna use.....

2) lets go back...have you checked the mbr of the sd is bootable?

I do not use Solaris but the dd command should work?

I am not sure how it sees the sd but lets call it sdc?

Code:

su
dd if=/dev/sdc bs=512 count=1 of=mbr && strings mbr
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
512 bytes (512 B) copied, 5.0322e-05 s, 10.2 MB/s
