Question major /minor number

i was happily using my windows partition (/dev/hda1) with kernel 2.2.16-22., using the mount utility (#mount /dev/hda1 /dos).
but eversince i installed this new 2.4.5 kernel. there is an error like: minor/major number does not match.

i don't have the right idea about what these nos mean.
any suggestions on how can i access the partition.?
