Looking to start helping the Linux community

Hi, I would like to start helping the Linux community and I need a good place to start.

I have used GNU/Linux for about 2 years now and I am pretty familiar with it. I've used Ubuntu, Slackware and currently Dragora.
I know basic to intermediate C++ and basic bash shell scripting.
I am also working on getting my A+ Certification (although the software and OS sections hardly include GNU/Linux)

Do you think I have enough experience in the Linux world to start helping the community in any way?
If so, what would be a good starting point? I want to start off small and work my way up. Maybe editing source code for the good of a program or something along those lines.

Thanks.

You should write a sustainable kernel module for Sun's Type 6 usb keyboard.

Oo, or you could work Pidgin's support for LCS.

check out http://ldn.linuxfoundation.org/book/...inux-community or maybe http://tldp.org/FAQ/LDP-FAQ/. Another way is to look at projects you might be interested in. Go to the project page and see if there is a need for documentation, or other contributation's. Help other users answer questions here and other forums, last but not least if you can afford it donate a few bucks to a project.

Thanks for the help. I would probably donate if I wasn't in high school and I made more than $50 a week haha.
I will look into those links you gave me.

EDIT:
Maybe I'll wait till I have my A+ Certification and then take those Linux courses on the IBM website.
I don't really think I know enough.

Maybe so. If you think that, you could start by testing and documenting. Both of those would expose you to learning experiences and would help improve whatever you were working on.
