Looking at Windows-files from a linux system

If you have a Linux distribution whith a reiser file system on one hard-disk drive and Windows whith a NTFS file system on another drive, is it possible to read Windows files from the Linux system?
I tried whith Knoppix and noticed it worked, but not whith Suse 9.2 installed on HD1. Windows is installed on HD0.

Knoppix has built-in NTFS support, looks like Suse doesn't. I don't know anything about Suse, but I do remember that with Fedora 2 they had to install some NTFS kernel patch or something.

Might try this:

I know nothing about it captive, so use at your own risk. NTFS support is still experimental, so I wouldn't write to that drive.

Your best bet is to head over to Suse or the Suse forum here and see what they say.

If you expect that you will have an ongoing need to share files between Linux and Windows, you might want to consider creating a FAT32 partition for that purpose. Since both Linux and Windows can both read and write to FAT32, you could move files into it while in one OS, then pick them up from there the next time you use the other OS -- J.W.
