Long list of addresses & Calls when I log in

Somewhere in either doing some general package updates, or perhaps a system crash when I plugged in a BusLink USB-2 Cardbus card (that's another story), I now get a long list of what appears to be memory addresses followed by system function names when ever I log into a local console. Here is an example:

...
c8b041c0 parport_wait_peripheral_R0786bf50 [parport]
c8b04110 parport_poll_peripheral_R03386fcc [parport]
...

So what is going on, and how do I fix it?

The system is running a fairly current copy of Debian Sid on Linux 2.4.27
