Question logging too tty consoles...

Quick question... im working with redhat and I would like to be able to push my sys logs to a tty console so I can just switch back in forth between them on the system.... is this possible?? Working with solaris I know that it is but this is my first time dealing with redhat and am a bit unfirmiliar as to weather or not I can make it do it... Any help would be appreciated...

You can either open up a console window in a graphical environment or use Alt-FX combination to move between consoles in text mode. In either case you use the tail command to follow the file. You can man tail for the fine details, but I think the appropriate command is somthing like tail -f /path/to/syslog.

you can also specify a tty in your syslogd.conf (or syslog-ng.conf)....

I added a line like this:

*.* /dev/tty12

so all logging also goes to TTY12... *tadaaa*
